ENGINEERED HARDWOOD

Hardwood Transformed

Hardwood floors have existed for hundreds of years, but innovation has elevated the hardwood industry. Engineered hardwood options have allowed builders, home and business owners to create spaces that provide comfort while adding benefits not typically found in traditional hardwood products. Parks Floorcovering provides industry leading products to ensure customers have options.

Engineered Hardwood, Explained

Engineered hardwood is manufactured by combining multiple types of wood, whether it be ply, scrap or shredded wood for support and attaching these layers to a thin, solid wood veneer. The engineered hardwood market has grown, and the supportive wood layers, sizes and qualities widely vary accordingly. This process gives consumers the option to explore real hardwood styles without committing to the price point of solid hardwood options.

Advantages of Engineered Hardwood

The most sought-after benefit of engineered hardwood is that it is more affordable than traditional hardwood. This product is the closest in look and feel to a hardwood product. Installation for engineered hardwood is less intensive and in turn, less expensive than traditional hardwood. It withstands water damage more than hardwood does.

Considerations With Engineered Hardwood

While this product is similar in many ways to hardwood flooring, it is not a solid hardwood product. Because of the nature of the thin wood veneer, engineered hardwood cannot be sanded or refinished which eliminates the option of restoring it to original quality and character found in traditional products. There are situations where fading and discolorations will be more pronounced due to its thin wood veneer.
